Thinking about using the Rogers One Number service, take my advice and don’t bother.
I have tried it two different times, the first time around it screwed visual voice mail on my iPhone and the desktop software was very buggy.
Silly me I decided to give them another chance many months, my thinking being since I using it originally during it’s beta period that they have now worked out the buys. Man was I wrong. The software for Macbook was still quite buggy and kept freezing. This time around it messed up call forwarding on the iPhone. When I tried to make changes to settings to the account setup through the dedicated website for the service I was unable to do so. Finally I had to call up customer service to have it removed from my account, thankfully that part was relatively painless and the CSR was actually quite helpful.
I guess I should know better especially for service which is being offered for free.
I wish I could take credit for this but I can’t. Got this from an arstechnica.com forum posting from way back in June of 2010.
The forum poster’s moniker is The Real Blastdoor. Please join me in thanking him for this, because it is absolutely pure gold. Additionally, each and every word is true.

I have always said to myself and friends that I want to be writing more and on a consistent basis but something always seemed to get in the way of me doing just that. Until I discovered 750words.com, as of today I have now written 750 words each day for 44 straight days. Frankly I am shocked that I have kept it up this long and that the streak is still going. I think the difference this time around is the concept of 750words.com which is essentially a daily brain dump and it is private. One of my longest held dreams is to be writer; be it poetry, sharing my views on the technology industry in which I work, or publish a novel. However, I have always never fully committed myself to writing, 750words.com has helped get over the fear of truly pursuing this path. It is really quite amazing. In the short term, it has resulted in me producing a weekly blog series called “Startups to Watch” on my personal blog, www.zunaidkhan.com. This in turn has lead to my friends at CanadaOne.com asking me to write a monthly column on the issues startups face, the first edition of which will launch this month. In the long term I am confident it will lead to me publishing my first book, be it poetry or a novel.
Thanks 750words.com, I am sure glad to have discovered you.
